Skin Inflammation and Immunity-Lab
The Weninger group has a broad interest in the role of the skin immune system in cutaneous diseases, including infections, allergies, inflammatory conditions and skin cancer.
We use state-of-the-art tools such as intravital two-photon microscopy, advanced in vitro and in vivo pre-clinical models, and cutting-edge genetic techniques to obtain a wholistic view of the function of individual cells in the skin during homeostasis and disease.
Our focus encompasses the study of immune cell dynamics in the surveillance of normal and inflamed skin, extracellular matrix homeostasis and remodeling, biophysical properties of dermal structures such as lymphatic vessels, the role of blood cell development and generation in skin diseases as well as the microbiome and its interplay with viruses and bacteriophages.
