Dissecting neutrophil heterogeneity and function in cutaneous inflammatory diseases

©WeningerLab

Abundant neutrophils are present in various skin diseases, including classical neutrophilic dermatoses (e.g., Sweet's syndrome or Pyoderma Gangraenosum), bacterial infections (e.g., cellulitis), and plaque or pustular psoriasis. Moreover, systemic autoimmune diseases (e.g., systemic lupus erythematosus, dermatomyositis, vasculitis) and autoinflammatory syndromes exhibit chronic neutrophil infiltration in the skin. This project aims to classify the functional and phenotypical heterogeneity of neutrophils in systemic and cutaneous inflammatory diseases through state-of-the-art techniques like full spectrum cytometry, next generation sequencing, and in vivo live cell multiphoton imaging.
